This reproduction features a purely floral motif depicting a stylized rose bush. Its blossoms dominate the pattern, with thistles and other small flowers tucked among the enormous leaves.

This historical reproduction is a damask, which means that the fabric is reversible, with a pattern that emerges through the alternation of glossy and matte areas in the satin weave. The silk warp of the fabric is filled in with a cotton weft, giving the cloth a heftier, fuller feel, and making it more affordable than a pure silk damask.

The original textile fragment is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
